HUS 212 : Prevention Resources in Drug and Alcohol Abuse

This course will examine the roles and functions of helping professionals and paraprofessionals concerned with prevention of and solutions to alcohol and drug abuse. Emphasis will be placed on abuse as a community problem and the need for organized efforts toward prevention. Topics will include local, state and federal alcohol and drug abuse prevention programs. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to utilize available material in creating new approaches to educating the community, group, and individuals in the area of alcohol abuse. The student will also have an awareness of resources available and the need for community, regional and state cooperation in abuse prevention.
